"no post exists for this topic"

Post by carldaman »

When trying to look at recent posts from today (Nov 8), all I get is:

"no posts exist for this topic" :(

Anybody know what's going on?

Thanks,
CL

The database was damaged in the server crash of this morning. The main damage seems to be that it has added fake 'pages' to some threads, that do not really contain any posts. And selecting those will give you that error. If you select an earlier page, all posts, including the latest, still seem to be there.

But I see replies made by real people, such as in the Fire 5 thread, which unfortunately contain nothing but the aforementioned text. Are you saying those replies are 'fake' or were never made?

I see a difference between thread view and flat view.
Deasil is the right way to go.

Greg, yes, thanks, flat view displays the posts correctly. :)

I've reported the flat/threaded view issue in the help forum, but I seem to be the only one around there :)

If the forum runs on MySQL, here's a quick step by step for whom it may concern on using phpMyAdmin to find and repair any corrupt tables: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/ ... r-database

Flat view indeed works, but I definitely can not work with it. In spite of all my efforts, I can not understand who writes what, who replies to whom, and what is the thread topic.

If normal thread view is not restored in some way, I am out of here.

PS. The conspiracy theory runs that ardent flat-view supporters have hacked the forum and crashed the database, to disable thread view in the process and get rid from any undesired posters on this forum, who like thread view. :( :(

Now it works for the new thread.

Wooow, I am relieved..., still lingering on. :)

Even in flat view, I have been getting this message occasionally, such as when I click on the page 10 link of the Stockfish Crazyhouse thread.
