Sorry, but this will be the last of the updates from me. I have lost interest in computer chess and I no longer have free time: I'm writing a book (science fiction), learning new programming languages, writing software, and enjoying my grandchild.
I will try to keep the Chess Engine List up to date, but it will be based on announcements from other sources. I pass the baton on to Guenther Simon. Sorry if this surprises you, Guenther!
That is really sad, Ron. Thanks for all your work and I wish you a good time with your other (new) activities.
And yes this is a not so comfortable surprise for me.
The Computer Chess Wiki site is not disappearing and the Chess Engine List (and all the other lists) will continue to be updated regularly. It's the announcements of the new updates that's ended. I used to be able to do the update research in an hour. But, due to the increased number of new engines and the increased pace of releases, the amount of time required has skyrocketed.
I will rely on engine authors and engine discoverers here at CCC and elsewhere to determine what I list at the Computer Chess Wiki. I won't be doing my own searches for new engines or for new releases -- that's the activity that takes too much time.
