Long range WiFi connection -- 1/2 mile - playing chess

Post by reflectionofpower »

My friend has a house out in the country and he can connect to his cousin's place BUT it is a 1/2 mile away and he has Windows 10. Anyone have any solutions to this problem? I have seen a good amount if you have Windows XP-Windows 7/8.

Obviously it would have a couple of antennas to really pull in the signal.

Try using this Alfa Wifi adapter with a Parabolic or Yagi antenna. Please forgive image sizes, I copied Image links from Amazon. PS: Linux does wonders with this adapter, but it also works with Windows.

I looked at the Alfa Adapter and it does not have drivers for Windows 10.

This is from the product page: "Supports driver for Windows 2000, XP 32/64, Vista 32/64, Windows 7, Linux (2.4.x/2.6.x),and Mac (10.4.x/10.5.x)"

I looked at the TP-Link 2.4GHz 24dBi Directional Grid Parabolic Antenna and was wondering how you hooked it up. I know you try to get the best signal and then station it so it will not move. Do you put this into the Wireless Wi-Fi Router and then the antennae catches the signal?

yagi antenna -- how does this hook up?

You need this Reverse SMA Female to N-Type Male Connector.

I have the Alfa adapter, I will pull it out and test it on a Windows 10 system. I have not tried it since the Windows 10 upgrade.

Ok, thanks, let me know. I am having dinner with Bill Gates tonight. I will tell him what you are doing for the community.
