K2 Chess Engine

Post by Sery »

Hello everybody!
I'd like to introduce a new version 0.91 of K2 chess engine, which is available from https://github.com/serg-meus/k2/releases/091.
Expected strength increase is about 40 Elo on long time controls.

Best regards,

The latest K2 v0.95 has an uncommon bug. Due to my tests It's strength at 40/1 min time control is very close to 2700 Elo in comparison with another well-known engine after 11'000 games. But at 40/25, which must be close to CCRL 40/40, it shows much lower performance, maybe by 100 Elo or even worse. The possible reason is patches to search function which make it more selective.
So it would be better for testers not to waste much time on this version. In a couple of mounths it must be the new one.

Hello and happy holidays!
New version 0.99 of K2 chess engine is out: https://github.com/serg-meus/k2/releases/099.
I didn't meausure the strength diff from version 0.95 but expect about 40-50 Elo.
This release is the last one.
Joke. The last one without artifical neural networks, bitboards, Rust programming language and, of course, 64 bits.

P.S. About previous 1.5 year-old post. In fact it was not a bug, just poor evaluation function.

Hi Sergey,

Whatever I do, K2 uses only 4MB of memory under Arena when installed as a WB engine. What is the way to set hash to e.g. 256 MB?

Hi, Gabor.
Thank you for your report. I've fixed wrong behaviour of 'memory' command for Xboard and updated Windows binary on github.
Please download the updated EXE.
