I played versus this person on Lichess and to me he is not even close to 2100, I go under ChessLearner 1979 since I got my online trainer once in a while I test myself against players on Lichess that are close to what my trainer recommend me to play against to advance to have a feeling of my progress. My online trainer never told me to play against any player rated over 2200, but I was online today on Lichess and he challenge me. He is not even close to being 2279 no way. TC game in 10 minutes

Re: I do not know how some people get rated over 2200 on Lichess ?
According to this site: https://chessgoals.com/rating-comparison/: a FIDE rating of 1950 (your estimate for yourself) should be about 2100 on lichess Rapid rating. So if you play at least 20 games there (Rapid) and still have at least 2100, you can consider your 1950 estimate confirmed.Chessqueen wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 2:54 pm I played versus this person on Lichess and to me he is not even close to 2100, I go under ChessLearner 1979 since I got my online trainer once in a while I test myself against players on Lichess that are close to what my trainer recommend me to play against to advance to have a feeling of my progress. That website looks about right. Lets not forget though that online chess is just 'fun'...people do not normally take it nearly as seriously as OTB and why should they?
I haven't played at lichess in 6 mo but stopped at 2182 and ascending. 2258 Classical.
I do tend to think blitz ratings are UNDER RATED on ICC though. I think we can chalk that up to inbreeding though...

Re: I do not know how some people get rated over 2200 on Lichess ?
Online ratings may vary greatly. Some people, in the comfort of their own homes, may play under the influence of too much alcohol or too little caffeine, or all sorts of domestic distractions. Some sessions may last for hours with players on autopilot playing way past their bedtimes, with dwindling fortunes, like gamblers chasing a win. At other times these same players may be fresh and alert and serious. Some people like to experiment with dubious or unfamiliar openings before returning to their more successful repertoires that will see their ratings rise. And so on.
In my own bullet profile the difference from highest rating to lowest is 435, which is nothing to do with genuine chessplaying improvement/deterioration. So a glance at my rating at any one time could mislead you.

Your opponents lichess rating is based on over 4800 rapid games so is accurate using Lichess rating calculations, it may not be comparable to other data pools but so what?Chessqueen wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 2:54 pm I played versus this person on Lichess and to me he is not even close to 2100, I go under ChessLearner 1979 since I got my online trainer once in a while I test myself against players on Lichess that are close to what my trainer recommend me to play against to advance to have a feeling of my progress. I also would not come to firm conclusions about an opponents playing ability based upon, what was it, 2 games. We can all play hughly above or below our 'average' performance. I have seen GMS make beginners mistakes.

Lichess rating is more than 100 elo higher than Chess.com. My Lichess is 2300+ while my chess.com is 2100+ Therefore blitz rating of a particular website is only comparable to players of that same site.

Re: I do not know how some people get rated over 2200 on Lichess ?
No wonder why I already reached 2280 after I played 6 more more opponents but players at that level are giving me a real challenge as you can tell in the rematch game that I posted. I believe that I will be stuck at this level for at least another 3 months since the lessons with my online trainer stopped since he is hospitalized and need time to recover. I still consider Lichess to be overrated by 150 points compared to Fide Blitz rating.

Awfully hurtful thing to post, especially without evidence.
Termination can also be other factors too... violating anything in the TOS is just cause.
Being rude, for example.
Look at the games using Lichess analysis...in almost every game ChessLearner1979 blunders badly (according to SF 14)
for ex:
https://ibb.co/2P1xLYn
19. ... Qd7 is best
but black chooses the very weak & speculative attack 19. ...Nxh3+ and the score jumps from +0.3 to +4.1 in white's favor
(is there any engine that would recommend this line of play?)
He can always appeal, false positives do happen and the account will be restored.
