Where is Kai Laskos and other Chess Experts?

Post by mehmet123 »

I haven't seen Kai on the forum for a long time. I missed his nice and interesting comments about computer chess. Also I can' t see Lyudmil Tsvetkov for a long time in the forum.

Maybe they are in the "Forbidden" zone or have moved elsewhere...

Kai of course, but Lyudmil... an expert? Of what, openings? I've called him out several times about this over the years with silence as the only reply.

I also criticized Lyudmil a lot on some issues. He claimed that he beat most powerful chess engines in some games but his games were doubtful. He even admitted that he saw the analysis of the rival engines during these games.

Lyudmil had interesting ideas about chess and computer chess. He is a very prolific writer. He has more than 50 published books about chess. Anyone who has written so many books about ches deserves respect.

Seriously? :P
In this day and age ANY bloke can 'write a book'...and these 'collections' (300 Endgame Checkmates, 303 Winning Sacrifices, 500 Opening Checkmates, Queen's Gambit Stabs (??), etc...) from Tsvetkov have the smell of database dumps anyone could pull from Chessbase to try and get someone to part with their money.

mehmet123,

I think you have your answer as to why so many have disappeared from talkchess. It’s not all about the technical issues.
Fat Titz by Stockfish, the engine with the bodaciously big net. Remember: size matters. If you want to learn more about this engine just google for "Fat Titz".

No wish to argue...but seriously, I just think it's a pretty low bar to dish out 'respect' just because someone can pull a database dump in this day and age. To have a difference of opinion over that and actually say it aloud should in no way be considered disrespect.

Now, his other book people here actually know him for - I remember many people debating back in the day, but at least it seemed to have taken some effort whether they found it with merit or otherwise.

There has however been WAY too much name calling and running public squabbles between some...some of it rather distasteful that I am sure led some to leave.

Kai Laskos last message was 30.1. What happened? I remember he among other things calculated maximum ELO couple of times. It was 4500? There was no last message like someone posts regularly :) .
