Chessbase 16 vs fritz 17(18)

Post by h1a8 »

What's the advantage of getting chessbase 16 (stand-alone program) vs fritz 17 (or 18) program?

The chessbase 16 stand-alone version does not seem to come with any databases or engines. Am I missing something?

Chessbase is selling fritz 18 as well as the combination fritz 18 + chessbase 16 (more expensive).

ChessBase 16 is a comprehensive database program that leaves nothing to be desired. There are different packages, with and without databases. It is possible that some older Fritz engines are included. You have to buy new Fritzengines with the game program Fritz (or use Stockfish). With the Fritz program you can also manage all databases with some features, but not as many as with the CB 16 program. To play with engines on PlayChess you have to have a Fritz program. With CB 16 you can also play online on playchess but only as a human.
