Who is going to win the following competition?

Post by Uri Blass »

Take the best 4 chess player,The best 4 international 10*10 draughts player and the best 4 go players.

Organize a tournament when every player play 8 games against players of different games when the idea is that players play a different game than the game they use to play.

If a chess player is against a draughts player they play go.
If a chess player is against a go player they play draughts.
If a go player is against a draughts player they play chess.

Who is going to win?

I wonder what is your opinion.

It all depends the era for example if we can go back in time and bring François André Danica Philidor (1726-1795) he was the best chess and draughts player of his time. So if we can pick François André Danica Philidor as one of the chess player to compete he would win hand down.

Sorry, I really thought for a long time to come out with an explanation, in everything in life the more you practice the better you eventually becomes, so for obvious reason a Draughts player should play better draughts and vise versa and the same for a GO player should play better than any Draughts or chess player. We know that every grandmaster in their respective game develop a unique pattern recognition and some of them have a very creative mind. For Instance Draughts is no easier to play well than chess. The game may seem more monotonous, less interesting than chess but playing it really well is still challenging. It's a matter of being able to remember the positions of the pieces and then analyze lines out as far as your mind will allow. Hopefully further out than your opponent! The great checkers player Marion Tinsley was said to be able to see 40-60 moves ahead. One time he was observing the position from another game. Someone asked Tinsley what move he would recommend. Tinsley then took an inordinately long time studying the position. Observers wondered what was taking Tinsley so long as the good moves for that position were relatively obvious. Tinsley finally said he was thinking about how that game ended up in such a messed up position, and that he thought he'd figured it out. Tinsley then, without having seen the scoresheet, correctly replayed the game backwards all the way to the starting position. Incredible! I doubt any top chess players had any better aptitude for board games than Tinsley.
