I started lantern 12 years ago in Java. But I thought the project was dead as i could not notarize since I tried to notarize my 6.23 version on Mac in June 2020. Was complaining about a hardened runtime. Well in last two weeks with the help of my friend Doug, Duckstorm on ICC, we got 6.23 notarized and made our first Windows installer. And then I researched how to submit to Microsoft Store and and we were accepted this morning.
It's an ICC app. There might be a Lantern Chess on FICS next year. Has quite a few Engine Features on Options menu to use. Guests can use all the stuff on Options too in ICC examine mode. ( game menu / examine or examine last game) PGN loads into examine mode. Also an opening Explorer on options. Comes with Stockfish but it's a little older now. Can load any UCI engine(Winboard too) ( it remembers your engine directory) and start engine will start current loaded on options.

Re: Got my first Chess App in the Microsoft Store
Thanks, I will try it out later for playing.
I installed it and it looks nice and clean.
Any plan to add DGT e-board support, or other e-board? With this it also demand spoken moves.
I did download it a few days ago to see if I could interface my computer account with it, I saw some comp. users used it, but no luck. I guess it is more a replacement for Blitzin.

There where som problem with the font on the scoresheet and the history list on my 4k laptop.
The line height should be higher or better udjusted based on font height. The scoresheet should also be wider.

Picture in original size: http://polarchess.net/tmp/Lantern.png
Else it looked good and easy to use/play.

Ahh good. history should probably be fixed anyway as its not on most computers set up to be perfect. This has been out of development actually for 17 months and considered a dead project as it was not publishable to a store or notarized app. But now it's back in. Maybe this Christmas i get some time to work on it around the holidays.Odd Gunnar Malin wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 1:41 am Did some adjustment in windows and now all look nice. We'll have to see if DGT board support happens. the big holdup is probably i never owned one. Maybe i do get one one day.

That looks like in the Board menu / Board Design the Modern choice. I forget what's default. Is the bug in board move list present in original? Another choice is mixed which uses modern when maximized and original when not.Odd Gunnar Malin wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 1:13 am There where som problem with the font on the scoresheet and the history list on my 4k laptop.

Re: Got my first Chess App in the Microsoft Store
I am not able to test lacking a 4k monitor, but i think the board move list issue is only an issue with board design modern, not original. Original uses a wider move list. Work in 6.23 was mainly done in June 2020, and i was not able to notarize on Mac till this last month and then the Microsoft release happened. I had changed the default board design apparently from mixed to modern. In mixed it would use original when the board is not maximized and modern when the board is maximized. http://www.lanternchess.com/changelog.htmOdd Gunnar Malin wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 1:41 am Did some adjustment in windows and now all look nice. The Modern layout was actually made by Lantern's main contributor as linked above source code at bottom of http://www.lanternchess.com , Andrey Gorlin. The name for it was kind of a play on Andrey is a Millennial and i wrote original and am Gen X. Andrey is working on a fix. I think he wants to do something that takes font size into account rather than as i first suggested, make it 15% wider. It uses a MIT layout that i'm not familiar with. I'm going to change the default setting back to mixed in 6.24.
