Chessbase is a fraud.

They force you to pay so much money for their products but their products are not worth the money.

I payed more than 200 dollars for Chessbase 16 and I think this product is not worth the money.

Also their biggest database that you can buy from Chessbase is only 5 million games.

I think that a more honest company would put more games in their database and not just 5 million games, many of these games are of poor quality anyway.

The way I see it, Chessbase is only out there to make money but they don't care about their costumers at all.

?

No one FORCES you to buy anything.

CB16 (by itself) is 120 euros or about $137 according to today's exchange rates. That's not $200.

Mega/Big both have 9 million games at this point. You don't need either. TWIC + ICCF are plenty.

The hatred for this company continues to astound me.

I remember in the late 80, beginning 90s Chessbase was already expensive but they had quality products. Nowadays, it's still expensive but the quality is decreasing. Maybe some good programmers left this company.

They feel obligated to release a new software each end of the year so they have to also release numerous patches.

Frankly...you are wrong.
Complexity has an upside and a downside. Chessbase products (all I can think of!) are better now than they have ever been. Would I go back from CB 16 to CB10 for example? Heck no! Could I get by with CB15 or 14...sure, but I would be missing some might nice features. Same for everything else.

Patches are the way to do software these days - everywhere, every business. Step into reality!
