Thanks Ted!
Websites and particularly those where one plays have sprung up recently were they try to...to me, largely beguile you with the data that is available on websites. I actually subscribed to aimchess on a lark when it was at a big discount. I am a bit disappointed with it...but it has promise and they keep promising new features. It was created to help coaches initially then expanded to help individuals...and they have added 'scouting reports' for opponents on websites. What they have needs to be improved...not the least of which is the 'personalized lessons'.
I quit the full Diamond Membership to chess.com last year, but they have something now called Insights ...and a Gold member like myself can at least see data for Hikaru and it is a bit similar to Aimchess and Chess Monitor (yes, they have a map too!).
The interpretation of the data will look nice to some...but ultimately, I think any site I have seen, just has a long way to go to make me interested. A site that took your thousand or so games and actually...lets say, broke down all sorts of missed tactics to give the user a coherent view of where they need to spend some study time and then (like aimchess should) actually provide targeted lessons would be helpful to players.
And of course there is lichess.
All this reminds me of
Poker Tracker back when I use to play online poker....hey, I bought a car with my winnings - no tournaments, just grinding away and the scouting function was quite helpful...
