Syzygy File Size Differences

Post by jshriver »

When they first came out the 3-4-5 set was around 940 megs, which https://syzygy-tables.info/ even reports. Though I recently re-downloaded them on a new machine and the set is now over 7gigs. Any ideas why or what the differences are?

Noticed they have different file extentions as well.

You probably have downloaded the Nalimov tables instead of Syzygy. See here for the sizes, Nalimov 3-4-5 is 7GB: http://tablebase.sesse.net

Are you sure you haven't downloaded the Nalimov tablebases instead? ;-)
(Those are around 7GB for all 5men)
