I had this idea to try Stockfish matches against programs up to twenty years old. Where has computer chess gone? It's kind of like a pair of entertainers, where the dumber one plays the smarter one. It's usually quite a nice and informative game.
So far:
a) Deep Fritz 8 - Stockfish 010422 0:46=2 I forgot to switch colors, so there were two matches in the end.
4cpu, 90+30, GUI Rybka3/F11, Stockfish my test book min=2, max=8, Fritz Fritz8.ctg min=3, max=25, both normal.
b) Stockfish 010422 - Deep Junior 8 48:0 And again they didn't change colors, Stockfish always white. I thought I'd clicked that off, oh yeah...
4cpu, 90+30, GUI Rybka3/F11, Stockfish my test book min=2, max=8, Junior Junior10.ctg (J8 CD not readable) min=3, max=25, both normal.
games
On a newer machine, a Deep Fritz 8 vs Stockfish match is being played, with 6 cores, at 15+10 pace. Some really good games here. 197:0=11 so far. Libraries as per the game above.
Unfortunately, I can't get Shredder 8 up and running, so the Zappa II Mexico game is playing for now, with the Zap!chess.ctg library. And I'll have to look at the colors to see if they alternate... Eventually I'd give it another try with Rybka 4.
