Cute chess

Post by Krzysztof Grzelak »

I have a few questions about the program Cute chess:

1. How to remove an unnecessary bar when playing engines - picture below

2. What to do to make the program use the options Gauntlet - it always plays with white pieces from the bottom of the board
3. How to check the rule 50-move - please note that not all engines have this option.

Cutechess is a quite simple GUI. The bar is probably hard coded and afaik there is no option to remove it.

Playing a gauntlet tournament is one thing but rotating the board so that the "gauntlet engine" always plays from the bottom is another.
Cutechess is a quite simple GUI and afaik can do the former but not the latter.

Hmm. What do you mean? Draw by 50-move-rule is a common rule, isn't it? What do you expect from the GUI?

In terms of the 50-move-rule, some GUIs show a countdown (or count-up) to when the rule will be reached, which is quite useful, but by no means essential.

I would like it to be shown in the program.

I would like it to look like at TCEC there is no such problem there.

Okay, I see. Even the FEN of the current position and its half move counter would help but it is also missing from the display.
Again... Cutechess is a quite simple GUI.

Simple, but incredibly good at what it does. It is what I use 99% of the time.

It is my favorite GUI by far - especially when using concurrency. It also has the powerful Cutechess-cli which I use a lot.

If you want a 50 move rule box shown in the GUI, perhaps make a request on the GitHub.
