When Maia (1900) was 1st released, I was using a GTX1060. Well I was reading the Hiarcs forum and came up on a topic related to Maia. I had not looked at the engine in a while and did not want to take the time this morning to fine the original 26.3 LC0, so I used the latest version from the LC0 site. I let it play a quick game with Nimzo 2000 and it appeared to be better than the estimated 1900 Elo I remembered. I assume that is because I am currently using a newer GPU. So the question is how much improvement can be gained from using a newer GPU such as the RTX line over the older GTX series when using Maia?
Sidenote: I found and downloaded 26.3 LC0 now.

Re: Question about Maia
According to CPW Maia has no search but only depth 1 eval, so NPS should not matter here, RTX gpus are estimated to give 2x speedup compared to GTX gpus with same FP16 throughput via TensorCores with Lc0.AdminX wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 12:30 pm When Maia (1900) was 1st released, I was using a GTX1060. Re: Question about Maia
Maia only works with "1-node" mode.
In UCI "go nodes 1"
You can also setup it in a different way
- cpu threads = 1
- minibatch-size = 1
- max-prefetch = 0
- nodespersecondlimit= 0.001

Re: Question about Maia
Yes, found this (Go Nodes 1) out, was the important factor for me. This was also helpful.
