Chess for Android: Square Color Picker

Post by abik »

I finally implemented a long requested feature in Chess for Android, namely a square color picker. Built-in colors are still available as pre-sets, but the user can now pick any RGB color for light and dark squares, including some awful combinations like below!

Version 6.6.3 of Chess for Android is now available on Google Play. This release includes the color picker as well as two very nice piece sets designed by the one and only Bryan Whitby!

I have always intended to design a contemporary Dali piece set in honour of my favourite artist Salvador Dali. I would like to thank Aart for providing me with a platform to do just that.

And the addition of the ‘Colour Square Picker’ option just enhances this already excellent app just a little bit more.

Thank you Aart

I am curious to see how your design will look. There is a catalogue of Dalí's artwork at the web of Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation that might serve you as inspiration:

Artwork index | Fundació Gala - Salvador Dalí

However, each painting has reproduction rights, so please be aware.

OTOH, in an unexpected twist plot, you have already designed the piece set and I misunderstood your post. If that, congratulations for achieve your goal.

Great work, as usual. However, your screenshot shows green as ff00 instead of 00ff00. Hiding leading zeros could be misleading IMHO unless this is a design feature for an unknown reason for me.

Ha! That is just me being lazy typing ;-). I made it such that the system prompts back the 6 digit hex if the user omits the leading zeros in the input.
