I found that the game that stockfish won against Dragon with black started with
d4 {book} d5 {book} 2. Bg5 {book} Nc6 {book} 3. Nc3 {book} f6 {book} 4. Bh4
{book} e5 {book}
Stockfish won this game
I do not claim that this opening is losing for white but I think that white played bad moves and I wonder if top engines cannot get better result in CCRL if CCRL test them with a different entry without an opening book when only the opponents get some opening book so there is no danger of repeating the same game.

Re: book in CCRL rating list
Stefan Pohl's IM4moves book. Several lines in that book are in fact unbalanced.
I do not like standard chess for this exact reason - all the arguments about good books, bad books etc etc. Chess960 is much better, no book so nothing to complain about in that respect.

Hello:
What a weird opening IMHO that nevertheless was already played at least once:

Not as weird as UHO books.Ajedrecista wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 8:28 pm What a weird opening IMHO that nevertheless was already played at least once:
From Stefan's readme:
IM_4mvs-files: 11172 different lines/endpositions
If you insist on playing standard computer chess instead of chess960, then IM4moves is a really good choice imho.
- Short book meaning the engines do most of the work - really important imho
- A large number of unique openings, good for big gauntlets etc
- Some unusual and slightly unbalanced openings which gives more variety
This one and his SuperGM 4moves book are used a lot on CCRL blitz for example.
SuperGM_4mvs-files: 2668 different lines/endpositions

Re: book in CCRL rating list
It means that for example you add entry like Dragon3.1(no opening book) when this entry calculate from move 1 when the opponents use the normal book lines that they have in ccrl games
Dragon no book-Stockfish may start
1.e4(0.xx/40) e5(book) in one game and
1.e4(0.xx/40) c6(book) in another game

Re: Book in CCRL rating list.
Here some analysis with Rebel 16 that was accidentally left running for a few days in a position from the Komodo - Stockfish game after 12...Rb8 Rebel prefers 13. Nh3 over 13. Kb1 but I think the position is bad now for White. It takes Rebel quite some time though, to see something below -1 for White and it may go up again.Ajedrecista wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 8:28 pm Hello:
What a weird opening IMHO that nevertheless was already played at least once:

Re: book in CCRL rating list
Just in case anyone wants to see what happens a bit deeper into the 13. Nh3 line from Rebel, the computer was still running but now doing some backwards analysis. The line stays fairly consistent that is, for me, usually a good sign (Bob Hyatt used to disagree once, he found changing PVs more attractive/realistic. Or something like that. It was a long time agoEelco de Groot wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 5:15 am [fen]1r1q1b1r/ppp1nk2/2n2pp1/3p1b2/3P3p/P1N1BP1N/1PPQ2PP/2KR1B1R b - -[/fen]

Alternative for 24. c3 is 24. Qf2 but it does not change much in the eval and going backwards Rebel chooses 24. c3 again. But here it was 24. Qf2 so this should probably be the main line because this is Rebel's choice at this point:

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.
