TCEC swiss

Hi,

In TCEC I see some swiss tournaments being played with same opponents, both colors. What is their reasoning for it ?

TCEC Swiss

That's one of my many gripes regarding TCEC. While many matches provide a service (e.g. engine comparison, opening theory exploration, etc.), their marketing is terrible. There's seldom any explanation for what they're doing, and why. It would also be nice to see a schedule for when upcoming events will be run.

Worse yet, some events seem to have a half-time break where a completely unrelated event is run...again with no explanation for why, or how this interruption is supposed to benefit the viewer.

If TCEC wants to successfully capture the public's attention, they need to be far more viewer friendly. Thus they should be 100% transparent regarding:
What is the event being run, and its purpose?
What's the following event, and when?
What were the results of the prior event(s)? While archived games are easy to find, I think prior results are difficult to locate.
Clarify what the hardware is. Apparently it's stated somewhere, but it's difficult to locate.
How are the opening books selected? What's the plan? For example, is each line just 10 whole-moves deep?
List what engines were rejected from TCEC and why (e.g. clone, derivative, etc.).

One experiment/test I'd like to see is a LTC event where all the book lines lead to closed positions. It would be interesting to see how the various engines handle these, and which engines are superior/inferior in closed positions.

Seriously though...it kinda needs to be accessible from the site the tourney is being shown on.

Right, it's a terrible site - I never know what's happening with TCEC, since it's never announced anywhere except on obscure sites I don't visit.

Agree with both comments above.

In the top menu on that side, click "Info", then "Book FAQ". The first point there answers your question in depth.
