WCCC 2023?

Post by Peter Skinner »

From what I see online, the WCCC 2023 started today, but I can only find 1 game online.

Does anyone know where I can see all the games, entrants, and scoring? The ICGA website is horrible.
I was kicked out of Chapters because I moved all the Bibles to the fiction section.

Here. I doubt you will see that many games anyway. There are only 4 participants. Each year there are less and less who play WCCC. https://view.livechesscloud.com/#6bb001 ... d82b798c97

I will provide regular updates and also posted the missing game from yesterday there.
Round 2 started about an hour ago and is broadcasted as well.

This is a joke. At least Komodo, Shredder and Lc0 were there in Vienna. And who is the author of Fritz? All pretty embarrassing. And then the winner can also call himself world champion. How many titles are there? Last year 3 titles were awarded. 3 titles for 4 insignificant participants? Fritz leads. Is that the engine that was last relegated from the Premier Div at the TCEC?

I don't understand why the organizer is not embarrassed. Does the organizer think that anyone from the computer chess scene is interested? It may interest the commercial Fritz and maybe the many millions of hobby chess players who only know Fritz. If Fritz wins, he is the big star, if he doesn't win, it doesn't matter, because this Wccc will be quickly forgotten. It's all about fake fame, really embarrassing, I can't call it anything else.

It seems WCCC reached 1999 its peak with ~30 participants and now with 4 its low...

https://www.chessprogramming.org/WCCC_1999

currently there are 42 engines playing at TCEC...different format, more attractive.

Championships are about competition. Online play is not giving the same amount of fun.

If there are commercial interests maybe they should get a good sponsor. So they are able to give you fees like they give to grandmasters participating a tournament.

Fritz participated last year in Vienna under the name Ginkgo, when it won the software championship. Komodo, Shredder and LC0 were there at the time.
