Here are a couple of original mate in x problems that are variations on the lone White Queen forcing the Black King to a square where she can checkmate him:
In this first one I'm not exactly sure how many moves to mate but I am sure it is less than 37 moves:

This one I believe is a mate in 28 (or less)
