Strange ChessBase 16 issue

I have a strange problem. I've been using Chessbase for 20 years and currently use Chessbase 16. On my main computer, I have 32 threads. I can open Chess Base and set Stockfish to 32 threads without lag. I tried doing this today with nothing else open and was getting lag. I tried a different chess engine with 32 threads, and still had lag. I opened up Fritz 17 and used both engines with 32 threads without issue.

I then tried my laptop, which has 16 threads. I had the same issue with Chess Base 16. I did not have any problems with Fritz 17. I can't imagine it's any change I made because I haven't made any changes. I also need to find out how it could affect two different systems. I would be grateful since it's easier for me to use Chess Base.

I have CB 16 on one laptop and CB 17 on another both (very old) with up-to-date programs.. I do NOT have that many threads (presume you have an AMD CPU?). I just fired both up with 4 threads and no stuttering issues.

BTW, if those are AMD processors, I am VERY much looking into a laptop with the 7945HX processor, but there are not a lot of vendors to chose from. I may end up getting the Asus Strix Scar 17 for its 16 big cores and 64GB RAM.

Perhaps you had a recent driver update? OS update? All I can say really is that the programs themselves are both working fine for me.

Yeah, I'm stumped. I tried to roll back the drivers, but it did not fix the issue. I used Win 11 and Win 10, and my main desktop and laptop had AMD chips. I even bought it on my old desktop with CB 16 and Fritz 17. It is using Win 7 and an old I7 3770K. On the entire eight threads, it lags on CB 16 but not on fritz 17.
