I really liked whites 17th move Rh3. Chess System Tal really is genius at finding unclear paths and spotting compensation for material. Often looking for and finding ways to go on the war path. It really lives up to the spirit of GM Tal. 8-) Thanks for sharing this game.

Hi,

yes, it was a very nice game.
Thanks for your comment and interest on it.

Best game I ever saw produced in SWCR Rating-List (older rating list) Junior.
If you like I can search the game in my database.

GM Hickl public the game in his newspaper (SWCR = Schach-Welt-Computer-Ratings), produced for the newspaper by Jörg.
Many readers had written and like the game a lot. Also different grandmasters.

:-)

But this game from CSTal was really very very nice for looking.

Texel is interesting after my first stats from the still running FCP-Tourney-2024. Very sure that Texel can produced also such nice games. So I am waiting of Texel games ... a question of time.

Best

Yes. Chris and Ed have made CSTal live/survive in the new age with many cores, 64 bit and neural networks.

Its really astonishing that this is possible. That even with todays hardware chess is still about having a knowledge plan to mate.
What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....

Re: Shock in database ... great CSTal 2.00 game!

Hi Thorsten,

can nothing do with it.
No information about time-control or evals in game.
Game is with resign=on ... around 46+ 15-25 moves upto mate.
Loses with 60 - 70 moves I see often from Wasp ... is clear 250 Elo to Stockfish with higher time-controls.

After around 27.000 Wasp games since version 1.0 I collected 51 lost games from Wasp below 50 moves upto mate. Most of the games vs. Stockfish and fairful opponent Koivisto. Also a fairful opponent for other engines comes with gigantic short-game stats, like Velvet and it seems also from Texel.

Games with resign-on are not im my database (for me ... uncomplete games).
Can nothing do with it.

A short lost game below 50 moves upto mate with longer time-controls from Wasp is really very rarely.

At the moment an experiment is still-running here on my second AMD 5950 system ...

Wasp with 100 Elo more vs. TOP 5-20 engines.
Easy ... Wasp with 8 cores in used, other TOP 5-20 with 1 core.
So Wasp have the same level and I can compare the aggressiveness with others.

I like to see how many short wins Wasp produced if 75-100 Elo stronger!
The results are gigantic!

OK, Velvet will have the same good results Wasp have if Velvet runs with 8 cores and produced the same level from TOP-5-15 with 1-Core.
Will be test a bit later.

:-)

I like Velvet so much!

PS: In the still running FCP-Tourney-2024 ...
Wasp on place 1 in move-average ... with CSTal, also 83 moves with resign=off ... absoluty TOP!!
Wasp on place 1 in fewest games over 180 moves
Wasp on place 2 in most short wins ... 4 at the moment, Igel have 5.
Wasp on place 5 in move-average win games

The last update v6.50 by John is fantastic!

The only problem is ... in all the games from FCP-Tourney-2024 Wasp have only 1 win game vs. the stronger engines (win game vs. Booot). This statistic isn't good for the level Wasp 6.50 have. Wasp made all the points with longer time-controls vs. weeker engines. In my experiment Wasp 6.50 8Cores vs. TOP engines 1Core all looks great, win-game stats vs. same level is normaly. But the short-game stats vs. weeker engines are really a sensation.

Zusammengefasst: Ein Träumchen!

:-)

Viele Grüße
Frank

PS: A nice win by CSTal vs. Wasp. Today I saw a sensational game from Uralochka vs. Wasp. Uralochka won in kings-attack ... again, very rarley vs. Wasp.

Here the game vs. Uralochka. With resign = on game will be ended around move 35, with resign = off with 92 moves. Again short wins vs. Wasp below mate 50 are rarely. And most of the 51 games I have are 40 in 8 or 40 in 12 games. Engines strong in king attacks and weaker in endgames need longer time controls for clearly better results. But have a look in the game what Uralochka do around move 28-32. Saw it in live and thinking ... oh my god ... the next lose game vs. Uralochka. A bad day ... but the next nice game will comming soon!!

More information about Wasp ...

Most of lost games from Wasp have the same pattern. Pawns are pushed forward and if directly not a combination in the near Wasp pieces like rooks and knights become sidelined on the other side of the board. In late mid-game Wasp need to long to activate the knights and rooks for better fields on the wrong board site.

So, if I looking in Wasp games live ... vs. stronger engines ... I am looking at first on positions from knight and rooks. Often I know before, game will be lose if eval is equal. If you are looking so often in Wasp games you know your favorite exactly, also the bad things.

That's really a Wasp problem for many lost games. But the list is much longer if I am speaking about all the nice things around Wasp. It must be a reason that Wasp is my clear favorite since version 1.0.
