I would bet on Carlsen under those conditions, since he will in my opinion beat them and get an edge during the Middlegame.

I think this was debunked and calling that cheating is beyond idiotic and needs no further comment. Anyway all players are allowed to use mobile phones in their rest areas ... and today's mobiles are basically small computers. There is no doubt that MC is getting special treatment ... but this also happens with all "once in a generation" athletes or competitors. I remember watching Tiger Woods in his last US Open win where some were complaining that he gets way more coverage than other players. Well .... I guess there just is a ton more viewers that want to watch him play! Also players were complaining that Tiger would get a special area while other players would not ... I guess the other players just didn't have hundreds of press and paparazzi following them all over the place. Love him or hate him ... Magnus Carlsen is a "one in a generation" chess player ... probably the greatest chess player of all time ... organizers know that if they have him in their tournament, they will get much much more viewership. More viewership means more money and more chances of success for the tournament. They will go out of their way to make sure he comes back again. If Nepo would not be there, it would be a loss for the tournament, but hardly a big deal. If MC would not be in that tournament, every one reading this post would probably not even know that tournament existed.
