Guys, I don’t want to say anything, but take a look at his code, and specifically the amount of code taken from Stockfish.

Why should we care?
It is open source, so the amount of code taken is irrelevant.

I decided to test Stockfish16 and Obsidian by removing the Opening Book and forcing only the 1st move 1.c4.....versus the same opponent Berserk12 and I realized after 18 moves that both Stockfish and obsidian 10 were making the exact identical moves. Therefore, you are correct obsidian has more than 99% of the same codes as Stockfish 16

Simple. It would probably be a loss for CCRL testers. Anyway, innumerable flower copies of Stockfish are tested hard.....A modern engine does not only have the neural network....With Rybka there were other interests....Sorry for the intrusion...!

In the computer chess programming discord channels, I know that if there was anything amiss with Obsidian, we'd have all known about it by now.
From what I can gather, it's fine.

In the past, I have often thought that programmers should keep their sources secret.
In a fight with myself and github, github always won with around 65-35.
Because it's good for programmers to learn from other's work and ideas.
The best thing is when new ideas can be produced.

But most of all I like the programs where the programmer goes his own way.
A good example of this is John Stanback. For John, all the sources of others are never important.
OK, should be clear ... he has been working on his programs for more than 40 years.

What I do not like are really programs that do 90% of the same as others with a new name.
But I am not a programmer and hope that others with knowledge about it can give such information.

With statistics, only such things are complicated to see, a lot of work and most of the time very boring.

All in all I am very happy with so many strong available chess programs.
What I dislike completly are all the derivative Stockfish versions and if programs prodcued "Chewing-gum-draws", games not ended in clear draw positions.

......I often think of a large dissecting room where Stockfish is an object of study.....maybe I'm wrong.....but soon only the logos will differentiate the engines..... and it will be said that chess is a settled matter........that for chess fun we only use special opening books....poor people.....

Therefore, you are correct obsidian has more than 99% of the same codes as Stockfish 16
