Anyone familiar with testing Sun 1.1? Is this a Stockfish clone?
I've been playing a match against Stockfish 16 and they seem very close.

Sun 1.1 is an older (Sep 23) Stockfish version with CorChess code. The specialty lies in learning. Sun 1.1 supports learning by StockfishMZ/Eman. If you don't need the learning function, you don't need Sun 1.1 either.

So you 'got' a chess program somehow and you don't know what it is? How is this possible?
Any simple google search reveals that is a CorChess derivate/clone...

If it was a legal program you should have received a readme and sources with it, which would tell you
that it is 'based' on SF.

Ok, so a simple google search reveals that it's a CorChess clone. That's nice, what makes you think I know what that means and that it somehow means it's a clone of Stockfish. Why can't you just answer the question without the lecture?

Are you serious? It had sources, it had a readme, it had an authors file and each time it is is started it shows the *authors*
like this:

Code: Select all

Sun 1.1 by E. Nemeth, M. Zerbinati, the Stockfish developers (see AUTHORS file)
And moreover this information also shows up in a 5 sec google search.

There is nothing more to say.

Maybe I asked the question while I was away on my Iphone or maybe I thought the people on talkchess are friendly people and would just answer a simple question (thanks to you that notion has been dashed). But you're right I could have just read those files which I never read and didn't think to look at. I could have found out with a 5 second google search, how much more have you spent criticizing me instead of just answering the question. By the way nobody was forcing you to answer me.

CorChess is an excellent engine for correspondence chess analysis. But no one had implemented a learning file until then. There have been engines with learning files, but both Eman and StockfishMZ are based on Stockfish search. But I wanted to have a CorChess code with learning. Some of my friends also like to use a learning file for their analysis. I don't know what was wrong with offering such an engine?
