Crafty 25.2 w32 problem

Post by Wilhelm »

Today I tested the 25.2 and saw that there is no tablebase support in the w32 version. It writes "SYZYGY support not included (no -DSYZYGY)". The x64 version has syzygy support. I downloaded some different compiles but no one support TB, no syzygy nor Nalimov. Is there a w32 compile of the 25.2 wich supports tablebases? Thanks.

Realy? On my 5900x all versions work (Win10), except some old ones, 8.11 and so... but they didn't work also on my old Intel 3770.

What I can say is that when the crafty.rc is not correct than the engines didn't start (mostly tablebases path). In 70% of the downloads the crafty.rc are wrong (commands from other versions). Maybe a problem with runtimes? You can try to install an AIO-package.

An other question: are the 25.3 and 25.6 not from Robert Hyatt? ...and does anyone have a 32bit 25.6? Would be nice to have on my virtual Win 98/XP machines, but not realy important :)

Clang profiled builds.

Crafty v25.6 32 ja

There was a reason syzygy was disabled in v25.2. The syzygy tb probe code was 64 bit only.
I used the syzygy probe code from v25.6 which compiles in 32 bit.

Ah ok, that was the reason.
Many thanks for the compiles! :)

Was 25.6 the last version ? Are there x64 compiles for that ?

Looks like yes, but it seems not an official release and in my first test running it seems a little bit weaker than 25.2/25.3

25.6 was the last version and of course 'offical' (even if not in the release section, but that's just nitpicking),
because it included the last changes from Bob and the version number change.
There are compilations from Dann Corbitt and Mike Byrne.

Conclusion - always ask the XB/UCI chronology ;)

I have compiled (linux 32 and 64 bit) 25.6 from the above repository. But always wondered if 25.6 will be released 'officially'. The feature for which I compiled it is it allows Elo setting with -elo flag. To compile this feature, one has to make some minor changes to the makefile. Has anybody done significant testing of this feature? It does seem to work in the small tests that I ran, but I would be interested in knowing about any other tests of this feature.
