How can I configure Rodent IV in Android chess GUIs?

I have uploaded a new apk file especially for Acid Ape Chess. Just download it again and test it. If I manage to get Acid Ape Chess to work, I'll be happy to test it myself. I assume it doesn't work because I download the APK file anonymously. May require a Google account to work.

Unfortunately, R4 still not working, just like before. Still have to pick personality via file system picker, and personality book is not used.

I just noticed, external engines are only supported in GM edition, ie you won't be able to test this. I wish AA had a much wider user base, because it's very thought out (still room for improvement), but on Android nothing comes close - in both, features and UI/UX. Droidfish and Chess for Android are ux disasters. Free though, but still.

However, this means a different directory, namely

Here is the updated version for Acid Ape Chess GM Edition. The path name is currently hard-coded. If this works, it would be good if the user could enter the Rodent home directory in the uci options, then it could be used universally for all chess apps.

I think now it works. AcidApe still does not offer the personalities via a dropdown, like other UIs do, but I don't know if that should necessarily be the case.

I pick a personality like anderssen.txt and now with global book off and "Usebook" on it makes book moves, so I'm very confident it a) uses anderssen.txt playstyle and b) finds the players/ph-anderssen2.bin book.

Not so confident any more.

a) In a match Deborah.txt vs. Kasparov.txt Kasparov lost. Books on, both 100% uci strength

b) Setting SHOW_OPTIONS in basic.ini has no effect in the UCI options of Rodent.

So my guess is, it maybe uses some fallback setting and profile in any case?

I have now installed Acid Ape Chess via the official Play Store. Unfortunately, I realized that you can't install any other chess engines, but only with the paid version. End of the road. In any case, the whole thing seems to work under Chess for Android with customized Rodent home directory (I can also select a personality there). It is quite possible that this is a specific thing within Acid Ape Chess GM Edition. There will probably be no special authorizations for file access?

BTW, somewhat typical for Rodent 3, it loves to crazily resign. - Here, black resigns after white Re4.
