Talkchess needs to update the security certificate
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Re: Talkchess needs to update the security certificate
Hello Dann, I think it's been taken care of. I got the same thing this afternoon but after logging in sometime later, it was gone already here. So there is some delay possible at your end.
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Hi Sylwy, yes correct, that is what I saw also, I overrode it but as you then can check in the address bar on the little padlock icon, there is no SSL certificate at the moment. Srdja wrote that an official certicate was pending and a selfsigned one in place. So I think something changed there but anyway the site not yet taken over by the Pirate Bay!

Re: Talkchess needs to update the security certificate
HGM did install the "let's encrypt" method for SSL/TLS certificate signing on the server, so every 3 months the certificate will be updated, obv. the automated update process now got stuck, and HGM needs to put some hands on.

That's not ideal. Usually, people renew the certificate every 60 days (i.e. 60 days after the last valid LE certificate was installed). That allows, in case of failure, to retry the next day. After two weeks of failure, an alert email can be sent to the admin, still leaving 16 days for manual action.

Re: Talkchess needs to update the security certificate
So cert is valid for 90 days and you renew already after 60 days, 30 days to take action, nice trick.Ras wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 8:14 amThat's not ideal. Use firefox. It will give a warning but you can ignore it and continue browsing.
As google wants to block adblockers and microsoft edge will follow them it is be the better option anyway.
