My name is Ani. I have been following the Talkchess forum for many, many years, but this is the first time I have decided to register and open an account. I'm a big fan of computer chess and love seeing the development and growing strength of open-source engines like Stockfish, Berserk, Odsidian, etc. Thank you to all the smart and brilliant programmers and developers who create these engines and volunteer their time doing so. I'm also a competitive tournament chess player and a US Chess certified Tournament Director based in Seattle, Washington.
@ GM Larry Kaufman: If you happen to see this, I'll be TD'ing a tournament this weekend in which your son will be playing.

Welcome brother.
This forum can be a bit hostile at times, but it is great regardless.
Welcome to the CCC and glad to see you here. There are a lot of chess programmers in this area and I have met some of them personally. This area used to be a real hotbed of chess, especially the crossroads area in Bellevue. Incredibly gifted chess players would show up there to play chess (e.g. Yassar Seirawan, one of my chess heroes!)
I do not know if it is still like that, since I have not worked in Bellevue for some time now.
There are many interesting ways to contribute to computer chess and we have chess program users, chess program testers, chess programmers and other tangential areas. I hope you enjoy the interaction here. Someone already mentioned that there are some noisy and boisterous characters, but they are the minority, though a very vocal one.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.
