Mephisto Mirage, which power supply?

Post by smatovic »

Heyho,

a friend got a Mephisto Mirage 1984 w/o power supply unit:

https://www.schach-computer.info/wiki/i ... sto_Mirage

and I found different threads providing different information, 9V/5V/16V, 2.5A.

Hence the question, which power supply unit for the Mephisto Mirage 1984?

If you are not sure, I would ask "Spacious Mind" if he is still around, his website is, see below. He is probably on HIARCS forum where there are more active collectors.

https://www.spacious-mind.com/html/mira ... board.html

This specifies the original part from Hegener and Glaser, 9V battery pack, and he lists a 9 V adapter, if you search for the original part, can still be found where the specification is 8 V.

For instance Google gives me https://amberone-shop.de/Original-Netzt ... t-8V-250mA

Hein Veldhuis also gives this partnumber, here:

https://www.schaakcomputers.nl/hein_vel ... -Brett.pdf

Or here: https://tluif.home.xs4all.nl/chescom/EngMephMir.html

The Russian microprocessor 1806 alone works with 5 V. I guess the rest is for operating the sensors?
1806 series
All devices in the 1806 series are manufactured in CMOS technology and require a +5 V power supply.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Thanks :)

Seems to be the RCA 1802:

I had not found that yet! It also operates the Buran, well I don't know if that ever went into space but the RCA equivalent is still responsible for Hubble, the Space Telescope
Space technology and science

The 1802 was used in many spacecraft and space science programs, experiments, projects and modules such as the Galileo spacecraft,[27] Magellan,[28] the Plasma Wave Analyzer instrument on ESA's Ulysses spacecraft, various Earth-orbiting satellites[29] and satellites carrying amateur radio.[30]

The 1802 has also been verified from NASA source documentation to have been used in the Hubble Space Telescope.[31]
Radiation hardened technology!
