Let me tell you how my engine got tested.

I started developing my engine in the end of 2016. I did not contact anybody about that via forum, discord, mail or whatever.

I uploaded my engine to Github in July 2017 just to sync the sources on my three computers that I used for development. I never actively published anything of that via forum, discord, mail.

I tested my engine myself using ~50 different engines that I found at CCRL in the < 2000Elo area. I never actively published anything of that via forum, discord, mail.

Graham contacted me end of 2017 (probably in some chat, maybe at TCEC) and told me that he found my engine and will let it play in his 67th amateur div 9.

A big surprise for me. So I watched my engine playing at Graham's tourneys live and this raised my motivation a lot to improve the engine. So over the years it got stronger and other testers got notice and also tested it.

Graham suggested my engine to the TCEC organizers so it started playing there since 2019.

This is how things can work.

I don't understand you. Was appearing on the CCRL list the only motivation for you to develop your engine? Was it not for fun or learning?

Graham is under no obligation whatsoever to test your engine, and if there is any 'delay', you caused it yourself by wasting your time on arguing with Graham rather than further developing your engine to make sure it would meet Graham's demands for running engines in his tournaments.

As I explained to you, trying to bully other people into doing you a favor will invariably have the consequence that you won't get any favors from them at all.

[Moderation] I split this discussion from the engine-releases thread, as the latter is only intended for announcement of new engines, and not for lengthy discussion on testing one particular engine, or CCRL testing policy.

Could you please summarize your fixes from versions 3 and 4, as well as confirm whether the engine is SMP or the UCI Thread Option is useless?

From the beginning, (Stockfish) members tried to spoil/ruin my discussion so that my engine wouldn't be tested.
Some comments were deleted and transferred to kindergarten. Graham says he won't test my engine because it doesn't support TT.
Graham Banks wrote: However, it would be ideal if your engine was also able to use 256mb hash.
Graham Banks wrote: Please configure it to use 256mb hash first, then I'll put it in Division 11.

It is clear that he is looking for an excuse not to test my engine.

Whether I try or not; I've lost all game. Whether I stay or not; I made a memory of myself. I said what I had to say. Whether my engine is tested or not...

For the second time, you did not even mention and reply to my message. This is the short test with the last version. Results are similar to previous versions. Engine is around 2000-2100 CCRL. Games and epd logs are below.

Code: Select all

LazySMP 5.0 :

Fruit 2.2 : 30 : 1+ : 0= : 29- : 3.33%

Sorry, I decided to leave chess programming forever. The behavior of CCRL members was so disappointing that I see no point to continue. They did not test my engine for no reason and it's not their fault, it's the Stockfish community members who made them pessimistic and destroyed my discussion:

I do not understand you.
1)There are many testers and not all of them from CCRL(I read that part of them tested your engine).
2)The CCRL did not forbid testers to test your engine.
3)One tester did not want to test your engine.
It is his right and I do not see why do you consider it to be a good reason to leave chess programming forever.
4)I do not see how the stockfish community members relevant and I do not see how the rating of the engine is relevant because
there are people who test engines with no hash tables and below 2500(of course not everybody has to agree to test engines that are weaker than 2500).
