Playchess.com is finished

This may be stating the obvious, especially after the rise of Lichess and chess.com in recent years, but I have been shocked by the deteriation in Playchess.com

Apart from the lack of players, the ones who remain are cheating blatantly. I'd say at least 50% of my games are against cheaters using software at blitz (2400 Elo+) they cannot maintain at bullet (1100 Elo). Every_single_move_no_matter_how_obvious takes them 4-5 seconds.

For me it's the end of an era. Also the search mask on Chessbase 17 is completely broken, don't know what's going on with that company...

Good morning Werewolf. This is indeed sad news. Regarding playchess.com, for me it has been the perfect place where I have been allowed to train against computers. At playchess.com, in the machine room, I have always been allowed to face the computers, playing as a human. There, I have faced many hardware and software over time. There I have always received good treatment and an excellent welcome. Thanks to playchess, I have trained as an anti-machine player, many bearers of nicknames and computers have offered me the opportunity to learn and play chess. In my life, since I was a child, I was taught to be grateful to those who have helped me become a better person. I recently purchased fritz 19 so I got 6 months premium so I thought id use it. Its been a few years since I played on playchess, but one early suspicion was that there were not as many players as I remember. Does playchess even have anti-cheating detection?

ChessBase certainly does. That's the primary purpose of the centipawn analysis. I just never use that feature for that reason, so I don't know how to make it work that way.

Yes, Chessbase had it or at least tried. I remember an academic group of two showing me a demo of their online chess cheat detection from their partnership with Chessbase.
