Hi Talkchess,
I'm interested in contacting the owners of the FishCooking mailing list. Google closed down this list a while ago due to excessive and unmoderated spam, and many past conversations were henceforth lost. I believe the list is important for both the history of Stockfish and the computer chess community at large, as many important/notable discussions happened there. The list can also serve as a means for people who don't use Discord to get in touch with Stockfish's development.
The only way to get list back up would be for the mailing list owners to submit an appeal to Google. Since I'm not aware of the identity of the owners of FishCooking, I would really appreciate if anyone here who knows their identity assist me in getting in touch with them, or at least remind them of the situation. I'd also be glad to take over moderation or ownership if such help is needed.
Thanks,
Shawn

Re: FishCooking Mailing List
If you try just Google's first own link in the search machine, there is a time out so somehow Google does not want you to go there?
https://github.com/mcostalba/FishCooking
But Marco's complete GitHub repository has not been revoked, and the Fishcooking repository link is still there, and can be read so I think Google just blocks the search engine users. Like with other links for inknown reasons Google searches go to cul de sacs. In this case I can believe the spam reasons.
So https://github.com/mcostalba
But you would really have to see if Marco Costalba is still concerned with the mailing lost or even if he can be reached at all. If not there is little hope. I would suggest not trying to contact him with a pseudonym he does not recognize. If you want to get through to him. He would not know any Shawn Xu I am afraid?
You could try Joona Kiiski or Gary Linscott maybe even Tord if it is important enough. If they know a way to contact Marco. But his GitHub e-mail is stiil there of course.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Re: FishCooking Mailing List
Almost all SF members know the reason for it being spammed. Do you really not know the reason?!Eelco de Groot wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 6:48 am If you try just Google's first own link in the search machine, there is a time out so somehow Google does not want you to go there? Hi Daniel, no really I have no idea. I have not visted the mailing list for some time. For two years or so. Like any mailing list, like RGCC it is vulnerable to abuse and if it is inactive, it quickly is taken over. Like the Rebel Forum in the past.LazySMP wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 7:04 amAlmost all SF members know the reason for it being spammed. Any moderation of the Google mailing lists had to be through Google. So they really own this mailing list, in a legal sense I mean. Well that's my guess.

Re: FishCooking Mailing List
Thanks, I'll try my luck then. It does look more like an old development repo though,
