Here is another 4x4 chess puzzle. The kqqqqrrrnk endgame has 16,487,138 unique legal positions. Among them, only 553,857 have legal moves (the rest are checkmates and stalemates). Only one among these 553,857 is a draw. This is the rarest per endgame draw (among positions that have moves). If anyone can construct this position, I am curious to see it.

Yes, the side with the two queens has the right to move, pawns are allowed on first rank, and all symmetries are taken into account, so the two positions are counted as one. (Thanks to Ajedrecista and Uri for the help clarifying this!).

No, because a Queen on d1 allows mate in 1 by moving the Rook in c2.

The task of the Untouchable King
White has a king on c6 (c3, f6 or f3) and a queen, black has a king. Can white always checkmate without moving his king?
The solution was obtained using a computer (A. L. Brudno and I. J. Landau, 1969). Checkmate is given no later than the 23rd move for any position of the queen and the black king.
In other positions, the white king and the free black king cannot be checked.
