For me it is amazing how much ahead Magnus still is.

His openings have become a bit dodgy at times. He is probably working way less than before. But hasn't he been basically been winning in all classical games (besides against Hikaru today) so far?

Yesterday, Magnus's opening was exemplary. He played brilliantly to his strengths: he chose a slow opening (a good plan for an older player: young players thrive in the heat of action, but aren't so good when there isn't much happening), gradually got his pieces into really good positions, and achieved a totally won position.

Magnus is so upset about yesterday's game that he's considering giving up classical chess altogether - link.

Magnus is primadonna, same as Kasparov was, when he was still chess active.
Whoever said that Magnus is the greatest chess player ever was merely lying.
He can not take a defeat like a man and is always making a spectacle.

Yeah, I've read his spontaneous reaction in exactly the same way as you. He couldn't have been +that+ more surprised by Magnus pulling out a knife.

But then, it was just some shattering of pieces. It's a pity that they most probably won't play that much more often. I feel Gukesh would feel way more confident in the future. And Gukesh has certainly made an amazing amount of points of his chess positions in this tournament.

* demonstrated that he cared passionately about the outcome of the game

I disagree. Say, for example, you are a parent and are considering to have your son or your daughter to get into the game. Then, you see a video like this, where the a top player behaves like a mad guy, the other one is really scared by his behavior and no referee takes any action, I am sure that you would think twice before having your dear ones to join the game.
