I am going to make a really controversial post with regards to AI and chess, but I think at this point, it's a necessary thing to protect human chess players.
BAN ALL CHESS ENGINES in ONLINE PLATOFRMS, AND BAN ALL CHESS ENGINE MAKING COMPANIES and any USE in COMPETITIONS, ONLINE OR OVER THE BOARD.
We dont need more demonstration of how useful engines or how superior they are in our GAME OF CHESS.
A lot of chess players start out for fun, for academic reasons, then some of them move to professional relationship and vast majority become trainers and coaches. First there became engines and as soon as that happened a lot of mystery around chess has vanished, simple programs that you can use on the phone beat world champions, causing a massive loss of respect for the chess game and its highest ambassadors.
And now, i'm not going to point fingers, but certain chess business companies have introduced the analysis with AI explanations, which is pretty much STEALING human trainer jobs.
The only jobs you can count on, once you're done professionally. These companies, again, dont care about chess game or the human players, they only care about profits, and membership that brings profits.
My suggestion to FIDE and to all online chess platforms and to all players. BAN CHESS ENGINE EVERYWHERE, on ALL PLATFORMS, ALL CHESS MANAGING WEBSITES, COMPANIES should be banned.
This will also benefit the fight against cheaters, as they will have massively less resources to use engines from.
Of course personal engine use in your own home, for your own games, is fine.
But there should be NO ENGINES LIVE on any online platforms or tournament broadcast.
Only teachers, pro players, arbiters and licensed professionals should have access to AI chess engine tools when employed in their job capacity.
There is a fine line between technological progress and eradication of human professions.
I choose to preserve human chess jobs over the AI progress.

Re: Kamsky wants to ban computer chess.
Not sure how serious this comment is, or in what context it's made - but it doesn't go nearly far enough:
* computers put lots of clerks out of work: they need to go
* cars caused lots of job losses on the railways and other forms of transport: they need to go
* industrial machines destroyed the livelihoods of a lot of craftsmen: they need to go
* farm machinery destroyed most farming jobs and stopped farms from being family like communities: they need to go
* the guns put arrow makers out of work: they need to go
We need to go back to living a tribal/community existence: life was a lot better in many ways. Less of this "independence" nonsense!

And we need to ban open source engines, because they have put commercial chess engine developers out of work. I guess.

We could ban pollution.
And electricity.

I disagree with kamsky.
"certain chess business companies have introduced the analysis with AI explanations, which is pretty much STEALING human trainer jobs."
I think at least in the near future people can use both AI and human trainers because trainers have an additional advantage.
At the end human trainers are not going to be useful because they are not going to help relative to AI+trainers but we are not close to it and there is nothing you can do to stop it. I see no way to force all internet sites not to use engines or AI

Re: Kamsky wants to ban computer chess.
Note, first please a reference where Kamsky literally said such a thing (couldn't find anything);
while he may have been sometimes negative about chess engines, the capitalized quote may not be real.
But if true this would mean back to the stone age ? Well you can't stop technological progress you know, but
society of course has to follow and adapt. So i suggest to ban the current Fide system with titles, and the
obsessive focus on ratings and top GM's; with the modern engines, and indeed more importantly, better
AI explanations (which are coming, but not yet fully developed) i don't need any IM's or GM's. In addition, while
chess is entertaining and sharpens the mind, talented youngsters shouldn't be focused only on ratings and
titles, and instead, besides chess, get a decent education; eg. in computer science, like eg. Demis Hassabis;
or even better, in general STEM science or similar (eg economics).

Replace ultracompetitive (and sometimes antisocial(*) ) Fide and online tournaments
with a modern, handicap (piece or pawn-odds) rating system as proposed here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/fairchess/
(piece odds vs rating differences need to be a bit further calibrated before official use, i admit,
where some help and additional input of the experience(s) of people as Larry Kaufman or Uri Blass.)
(*) yes indeed, sometimes with an antisocial, or toxic atmosphere(***) such as recently again
with the sordid (**) Kramnik vs Naroditsky/Navara cheating accusations
(**) obviously in general exaggerated claims by a non-statistician
(***) not that computer chess has been much better, eg. in discussions about engine
origins, but then in the past these engines were to much focused on rating as well
instead of playing a proper game of chess with full reverence for the intellectual
achievements of centuries of chess development with awesome gambits etc.
still in development btw, after one century of an opening theory 'winter' (similar
as the AI winters in the past), where only highly balanced openings were tried,
non of which can provide any fundamental advantage for White anyway).

It seems like this guy is living in a parallel universe. "Companies should be banned"? By whom?

Re: Kamsky wants to ban computer chess.
There is precedent: in Britain, the Luddites used to save jobs by breaking textile machinery. The wiki article about them also lists precedents that came even earlier than this - link.
When the "Stop The AI Nonsense" party wins an election, search parties will go from house to house checking computers for installed AI software, including chess engines. Mclane will have to build a priest hole (link) to hide his collection of dedicated chess computers!
