Maybe Jon will move?
We'll go along with that.

Good evening Robert,

the link in my engine-overview was wrong.

Thank you and sorry for my message, my fault.
I changed that directly.

Good opportunity also to highlight the amazing history of this engine - 30+ years of development - is it approaching 40 years ?. That is incredible.

Hi moderne Zeit,

yes absolutely.

Arasan wasn't one of the very first Winboard engines, but it came with quick support. When I first got started with the internet and a modem around 1996, Arasan already had its own GUI. I had often looked at the GUI before and tried out a few things. For me, Arasan later became the direct competitor to Wasp. Arasan was always slightly stronger, so as a tester of Wasp, I was always curious to see if Wasp could eventually surpass Arasan. The program has always played very confidently through all phases of the game and was particularly well-prepared for the opening phase. For me such a highlight, speaking from the opening phase, compare to the great opening book from Hiarcs chess engine. OK, John Stanback are also working all the time on his own opening book and that is really good!!

Programmer Jon Dart is for me also one of the computer chess vathers. Same for John Stanback but Arasan is the topic.

Arasan: A very strong work after so many years!!

If you Google "Arasan Chess," 99% of the URLs are incorrect.

I think he changed the name from the start file (index).
But all is OK, with the link Robert added.

No problem at all. These things happen. Good to know the site itself was fine.

I fully agree. Arasan has a remarkable history. More than thirty years of continued development is not something you see every day. It is certainly one of the classic names in computer chess.

Just as a small note, Arasan also did very well in one of my recent engine test tournaments. Of course, this was only a private test tournament, but I think it was still a very nice result considering the strength of the field.
