Hi there,
more easy as to added all the release information for 7 engines is the link to my engine-overview:
https://www.amateurschach.de/main/_engines.htm
7 releases to the same time:
PlentyChess, pawnocchio, Viridithas, PZChessBot, Stormphrax, Prune, Heimdall ...
Thats an attack!
The question is who is being attacked?
And why?
Supporters of the pre-astronautics theory are thinking ...
The Alien organize a chess tournament ...
Or maybe it have to do with Oak-Island, the treasure has finally been found?
or the Vikings?
or the Knights Templar?
Honestly, I don't know!
I give my thanks for all that ... and it's so hot here, now I'm awake again!
I have to config 7 new engines on my PC ... 20:00 German time, 39 temperature
Our chess-programmers, they really are tireless!
Best
Frank

Re: I'm awake again ... 7 Engines released for 3 hours!
Loud thinking:
Today is Saturday, so logically tomorrow should be Sunday ... if I'm not mistaken ... I'm not really sure anymore.
Thats means: If Saturday = 7 releases, Sunday can be 14 releases.
And GoTo Monday = 28 new releases!
Hm ...
Now i know ...
That's an attack of my engine-overview.
But I am harmless, I have a cabinet full of chess computers only and an ass full of power supplies.
I just tend to shoot my mouth off a little sometimes, but other than that, I'm harmless.
Now I'm being punished. That's what I get.
Best

Hi Coner,
yes, I have the 8 updates in my engine-overview and wrote here 7 ... saw that with Raphael and forget it here.
WOW, what for a surprise!
And all exactly to the same time!
I saw the first two ... and I am thinking let check again my engine-overview.
Then I saw all the updates.
Never I can remember on such an action in computer chess history.
All the wonderful engines, 8 to the same time.
The Glorious 9?
- Reckless
- Halogen
- Integral
- Zangdar
The list is long ...
Hm, I am thinking number 9 will be Halogen!
My thanks to all of the glory 8 (9)!

Re: I'm awake again ... 7 Engines released for 3 hours!
Rose isn't listed in my engine overview.
I don't know the programmer's name and country.
I haven't included this group of engines in my list.
I'd like to see a name.
It used to be the same way on the Arena Support Forum ... you had to provide a real name to get a password ... and back then we had over 800 members. I like to say “Hi, Jim” or “Hi, Bob”...
Maybe these days it’s better not to give the real name on the internet.
I can understand that point of view, too.
So, many thanks to the programmer of Rose!
But I’m not going to change my own rules here.
And what I do today … isn’t really important.

Hi Frank,
I just wanted to thank you for your work with the engine overview. For those of us who follow computer chess, it is very useful to have so much information gathered in one place: engines, versions, links, authors, and updates.
This recent wave of releases is quite impressive. It really feels like a very active moment for computer chess.
I think the constant work of engine developers is one of the reasons why computer chess is so enjoyable to follow.
Best regards,
Robert

Re: I'm awake again ... 7 Engines released for 3 hours!
Good morning Robert,
Oh, thank you very much.
It doesn't happen often that someone says thank you. More often than not, people make fun of it or use it as an excuse to launch attacks. In reality, though, they're very caught up in their own activities. I have trouble with this myself, I should looking more to the left and right (the time I have for all this is allways a problem). And, as we all know, our own stuff is usually boring.
My engine overview and link overview are just help files. ETOC-G isn’t a rating list, it’s just a bit of testing for my own results and I can see a different engine running here every day of the year.
Honestly:
Much better as my own work is the work by Günther Simon !!
https://rwbc-chess.de/ (Engine chronology)
In the morning I found on the Excel by Günther:
JustBot and added the information in my own.
I am not a discord member and need such information: Like TalkChess, the work by Günther Simon and the tournaments by Graham Banks for find new things. But often I am faster as Günther, have here tools to check the sites and a lot go automatically.
Being able to quickly find something using simple HTML makes searching easier, and even if only one person uses it, it's worth the effort.
Best
Frank
PS:
I'm also happy to accept criticism, so criticism directed at me personally is always justified in that sense. It's good when others see me as a kind of enemy, as a rule, that's exactly what motivates the people who want to do so.

Re: I'm awake again ... 7 Engines released for 3 hours!
Hi Frank,
I understand your point. It’s easy for us to talk about engines, ratings, tests, tournaments and results, and to forget that behind all this there are people spending many hours collecting information, checking details and keeping things updated.
Your engine overview and link overview are very useful to me because they bring together information that would otherwise be scattered across many places. Even if ETOC-G isn’t meant to be a rating list, it is still a valuable reference for following engines, versions and activity in computer chess.
I am not a developer, but I follow computer chess with great interest, and this kind of work really helps. In fact, thanks to the work of many valuable people here in the forum, people we all know and appreciate, I began to research more seriously, both to learn and to share what I could with others.
Bobby Fischer once made a rather severe comment about chess players. I don’t know whether that is true in general, and I would not want to make such a broad judgment. What I can say from my own experience here is that the atmosphere in this forum is, for the most part, pleasantly constructive. There is a real spirit of collaboration, and that is one of the reasons why I enjoy learning.
So, once again, thank you for your work. Even if only a few people say it openly, I’m sure many benefit from it.
I also hope we will continue to see many more major waves of engine updates. For those of us who follow computer chess closely, every new update feels like more than just another version number.
With appreciation,
Robert

Re: I'm awake again ... 7 Engines released for 3 hours!
Hi Robert,
that’s exactly the goal!!
To inspire people and bring them together. In recent years, things have become a bit scattered. For example, we have a really strong community for chess computers. The admins, among others, are working hard on this ... and in my opinion, with great success.
Generally speaking, group activities are very good. In the past, forming groups focused on a specific topic has always meant a step forward. While this does lead to intense fan activity, that’s a good thing too. I like to offer criticism in this regard, but usually with the intention of coaxing people out of their shells a bit.
I think I know which comments you’re referring to regarding Bobby Fischer. Bobby Fischer himself was generally viewed rather critically.
It’s also true that chess, computers, and statistics are male-dominated fields. These are topics that attract many individualists. I don’t mean to say that this attracts loners, but perhaps this combination does so more than other fields.
ETOC-G is a good example:
I have a lot of experience with rating lists and know exactly what I’m doing. All the better if these approaches differ, so that we can continually question the status quo. When I first started, I was probably my own biggest critic. But it seems that the logical approach I’ve developed here is really good, not that I want to praise myself. Good yes, but not good enough!!
Best
Frank
If I know the style from all the engines, ETOC-G can be make much better. Better "Standard-Engines" can be selected for testing vs. others. But at first, each of all the engines should give me the first results. I am thinking often about it ... how I can make ETOC-G better. To given people new ideas in testing engines can be help a bit. The many draws and the many very strong engines ... tester I know lost a bit interesting in testing. Time for generate new ideas in testing engines can inspire a bit.
