c44 (bots)

Post by xanderasnoffy »

After a lot of preparation the moment is finally there:

https://c44bots.uk/ is announced!

c44 is chess for four players
(I know chess.com also has a version but I'm trying to break trough with my own version),
the good news is: you might help.
(That's why I post it here :-D)

We're in search of some decent bot-writers and the current site is designed for this:
- there is a server, which knows the rules
- there are sample bots, where you can base your own magic upon
- there is a 1 person binary where a single player can play against 2 bots (with aid of a 4th one)

All of this free of charge.

In fact: if you'd like to help out you could gain a dime:
once the (player-)site goes public,
you earn half of the profit (per game, if your bot is involved).

We're in search of (at least) 4 bots,
so if 4 of you guys/gals would be willing to write 4 bots
(or 2 writing 2 bots)
we would be delighted...

(For organizationally reasons we currently only would like to manage 10 bot-writers.)
(as of the 11th your application is still considered,
and further in the future, when the site goes live
your bot will certainly be welcome...)

There is a code-freeze right now (until the end of November)
(we're waiting for your answer)
the 29th of November we'll look how much people committed
(and decide the course of the project).

You are free to look around (all of the software is public (and even open-source or Unlicensed)),
if you're interested in writing your own bot, please pm me.

If you have interest but don't want to commit,
we would also like to hear from you.

The dead-line of your bot is the 6th of March (2027)
(so, plenty of time).

The go-live of the actual site is planned for the 9th of October 2027.
(There is still some work on the user-interface.)

Genetic algorithms or neural networks are not desired (also not if you wrote your own),
we must be capable of reading your code...

For neural networks we will provide data-sets in the future (if there is a demand for it).
(As currently there are not enough human & bot games where data can be collected from.)

If you have questions, please reply in the thread (so others can benefit from the answer),

and hoping to hear from you soon!

S.
