64-day evaluation period for J.G.Island Complete

Post by msterkowiec »

Tomorrow, i.e. on Oct 29th, begins the 64-day promotion period for evaluation of J.G.Island Chess Moremovers Complete. The promotion will be active when using version 11.6.1 or later (available for download at jgisland.pl).

I will appreciate any feedback either here or via jgi.chess.moremovers@gmail.com
A few notes:
* Help page can be found at https://jgisland.pl/help.html while Frequently Asked Questions are answered at https://jgisland.pl/faq.html
* Brute force search option is available from menu only; the green Start button leads only to Single Solution mode or, with a right click, to All Solutions mode as explained on https://jgisland.pl/solution_modes.html

Note also that new moremovers have been added to the test suite of J.G.Island as it can be seen on test suite page.
Newly added problems are on green background.
Note also that some of these positions may require additional 6-piece Nalimov tablebases that may be not available in the standard installation.

And you should have mentioned that the promotion is only working when you're online when running the program!

Why are TB mates displayed as #128 ? Have You ran Stockfish matetrack with 1 million nodes?

@Jouni: Yes, this may be slightly misleading, but when you take a look at the column "Expected solution" you will see nothing there for these positions marked with #128. It means that there is expected no solution and in these particular cases the exact stipulation does not matter actually, since there is no mate at all no matter how deep the search is set (#128 was set arbitrarily).

Well, this is just a test suite and not every position is a compositon - although majority are indeed beautiful compositions.

@F.Huber: I think it is just a minor thing, not worth mentioning here in a big, red font. Nowadays we're typically all online, some testing machines are sometimes offline (at least it is like this in my case). It's just a natural way to avoid a situation that on Jan 2027 someone extends his/her promotion period by changing system date...
