Be careful not to bite the hand of programmers who have given you these wonderful engines for free.
Just a friendly advice.
Absolutely Ed. You can trust me, I've returned here only to LEARN from you, since all best chess developers are in Talkchess.com. I've a C++ certificate but taken 24 years ago when I had left chess world to work for a Siemens Qualified Partner, I'm not a dummy troll and my passsion for chess has always beenl the same. Open source today offers me unexpected possibilities differently from 25 yeasr ago.

As long as these are not LiChess Elos...
Thanks for your suggestions and decisions. I will do my regression tests offline

How far can go a modern engine without NNUE, using only classical evaluation? I'm modding this state-of-the-art code to try to
reduce the estimated 100 ELO delta

You surely like to live dangerously.
Why?
I will not release the modded engines without the sources and I will fully respect GPLv3 about the didactic purpose of sharing.
I post here only to have suggestions and help from people more skilled than me, analyzing the code together.
- Proteus-Ruby using alternative NNUE on a completely different source from Stockfish, studying his ideas.
- Proteus-ET to try to get the most from the classical evaluation that until 2021 was THE chess coding.

Well, so you have announced your plans, and we are all curious whether you will be able to achieve anything. But don't post again on this unless you are ready to release your improvements. Declaring intentions is not 'programming', and if you are going to focus only on that, you are posting in the wrong section.
