If only it were this easy all the time
I played vintage Fritz 6 just now and it played a terrible "Book Line", the game
went on wheels , but a win is a win

Very odd. This game exactly follows a GM game up through 26.fxe5. In that game, which ended in a draw. Black follows with the perfectly reasonable 26...Ne7. Fritz's 26.b5 makes no sense at all.

You're right John, b5?? is a blunder. Regardless, Black's opening isn't the best, White stands much better imo and worse, Glek oversighted a win later in the game.

That pgn would not load because the O-O should be 0-0. Fritz 6 gave a ?? to the 26 ..b5 and wanted to play 26..Ne7. Do you have the raw output with the evaluations? What time control was that?

It most definitely should not! O-O is the only correct way according to the pgn standard, so whatever buggy GUI you're using is at fault.

Copy what Terry has posted above into Winboard and see. The raw output of what Fritz outputed would not have this problem. PGN standard states that it should be letter O not zero. That should be O-O-O.

You're right, Fritz 6 played badly with b5??, truly an odd mistake.
So it played a book line that wasn't the best, and made a blunder also...lucky me.
