Seriously, now, I'd like to know at what time controls you played them and whether you let the engines use their own book.Dr.Wael Deeb wrote:I was ashamed to say sonczempin wrote:Or, more accurately: blatant self-promotionDr.Wael Deeb wrote:Thanks for this useful information![]()
Eden is in severe danger of falling down into your never-never land, so I want to make sure the next version at least gets tested at your time-controls. Because unlike many other engines, Eden is still being developed (there, more blatant self-promotion, couldn't resist!).

Hardware:
HP Pavilion dv9000t series,Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7200 [2.0GHz/4MB L2Cache],1GB DDR2 System Memory [2 Dimm]
Hashtables=128Mb for each engine!
Software:Windows Vista Home,GUI:Arena 1.1,ChessBase GUI!
Nalimov EGTB:all 4 pieces and most of 5 pieces!
Conditions:
Time controls: 40 minutes per game + 40 seconds increment!
Ponder off!
Learning enabled!
Own opening book!
No adapters are used!
No frozen,or out of time games!Just clear cut results!
I'll be more than happy to include a new improved version of Eden....
Note that even the current Eden in my rating list can climb higher in the rating list,so we'll see

Well, if you have the patience to "upgrade" it to the "server edition", it is fairly sure to climb. Without it, I fear it will more likely drop, given that at least three engines that I know to be stronger have gone that way.Dr.Wael Deeb wrote:iZone_nczempin wrote:Seriously, now, I'd like to know at what time controls you played them and whether you let the engines use their own book.Dr.Wael Deeb wrote:I was ashamed to say sonczempin wrote:Or, more accurately: blatant self-promotionDr.Wael Deeb wrote:Thanks for this useful information![]()

In any case, a release of 0.0.12 is imminent (or let's say: the release of 0.0.12 is closer than the release date of 0.0.11)!
The "resurrection" seems to have taken toll on the WB code for some inexplicable reason, so I'll have to decide whether to release some kind of pre-release version for those that can handle just the UCI version.

HaHAA! so the self-promotion worked!Dr.Wael Deeb wrote: No problems Nicolai,I am at a stand by mode![]()

And I have more chance for self-promotion!
Here's a quote from the readme.txt:
Send me a PM or just post here if you need any help in getting the server version to work.If you know what you're doing, you can get a significant speedup by using a "server" JVM (add the option -server to the java call in the .bat). I haven't enabled it by default myself because it won't work for everyone. For the Server hotspot JVM I think you need the JDK version, but I haven't checked otherwise, as I always have a JDK on my machine. It would be nice if you would mention this setting if you use it in a published tournament, as the results will probably differ from using a regular version.
If anyone would like to pit the two versions against each other, or just include them both in a regular tournament, that would make me very happy, as I usually just test the regular version against the previous regular version (plus engines that play at roughly the same level).
That way I can at least make a better statement than just "you should get significant speedup".
