Hi Steve,Steve B wrote: surely Graham even you can see the difference between a poll offered by an independent testing body then one given by someone seeking reelection and hoping to make some kind of point
i can argue that the majority of people voting will be the ones agreeing with your views on this and ones disagreeing will not vote merely because you are holding the poll
polls that are held by independent groups with no particular ax to grind are held in fair greater respect and taken far more seriously then ones given by special interest groups or the candidates themselves
i think the time honored system of each candidate making a statement detailing where he stands on the issues together with a summary of his moderation policy is a straight forward enough approach
the voters then choose who they agree with and vote accordingly
i see no need to change the way it has been done for a decade now
not sure why you do now

Steve
I'm interested in what the members who care enough about those issues think.
If that then means I need to rethink my views on certain aspects of moderation, then I'm humble enough to do so.
I think you do the members a disservice when you imply that only the ones who support me will vote in them. The voting so far in the "moving threads" poll clearly indicates that this is not the case.
Our candidate statements are important I agree, and those should form the basis on which members vote.
I'm not trying to change anything, just gain a better understanding of how the membership feels on the contentious issues that some have raised.
Regards, Graham.
