Cheers Sylwy although it's not my forum.
Regards, Graham.
I've always lived with the thought that it's yours Graham
Well, i thought it's yours and Tony's from the posting side of view.
Just kidding, just kidding, but i couldn't resist.
Best,
Daniel
_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….
One reason is the simple fact that there are people who do not want them here.
I do not care about commercial advertisement as long as people do not repeat the same message again and again but some people are against it and are going to complain and if commercial programmers cannot tell the public about a new version of their program in this forum then it means that people do not want them here.

Exactly Uri the point, every their statement is treated as a free advertisement which is not correct of course....

Why not?
Why should they post/discuss here? What is their benifit from doing so? They are commercial programmers and surely have better things to do than posting here.
Btw: They are also rarely seen on other fora like CSS or Schachwerkstatt
I would be more interested if they regularly READ our message boards, and what they think about us. Are we just a bunch of funny weirdos? Are we a small number of extremist freaks, not worth paying attention to? Or are we the spokesmen of the elite of knowledgeable users?
From my viewpoint: Take a look how Vas Rajlich handles that, on the Rybka Forum. He keeps in touch with the community, at least twice per week. Rybka is not only a phenomenon of strength, it is also a phenomenon of programmer <--> user relation and communication.

If some people don't want their advertising posts here, doesn't mean that they don't want them here.
It is against the charter as some people point them out, I certainly don't belong to that group.I don't have any problem with them advertising once and not repeating it.
Charter rules should be changed slightly and be rewritten more accurately.

I think the charter is fine. It only bans "flagrant commercial exhortations", which should allow plenty of room to announce new versions, discuss future plans, and answer the occasional support question. Some people do still complain, but I don't think the charter is on their side.

My understanding of it in a nutshell!
I have no problem at all with members of CCC being kept informed about commercial engines in this manner.
It's also great to have up to date info on the amateur engines too.

Hi Greg,
Agree with you regarding that specific rule, But what Uri meant was that it was because some people do not want them here, which is not correct as far as I know.
By the way,IIRC Mike B created one poll on whether one post from Alex Naumov(making announcement about his then newer Naum going commercial and mentioned it was available at his webpage), is allowed or not, It seems the majority of members voted that it was "against the charter" as opposed to "acceptable".But still, your point is valid.
