Hi Pascal,

pgeorges wrote:Hi,
So the things to try :
- did you check the UCI checkbox in configuration dialog ?
yes
- are you sure Rybka died, that is its process is no longer present in task manager ?
yes; SCID says: "The analysis engine terminated without warning; it probably crashed or had an internal error"

Only one scid.exe is present in task manager (i'm using process explorer) after the crash; no rybka.
- did you try to put it and configure it with simple paths (no space, no special characters) ?
yes, i did; according to prior suggestions here i renamed "Rybka 1-CPU w32.exe" to "rybka3.exe", but this changed nothing

thank you for your efforts,
Robert

I just bought Rybka 3 and indeed it crashes with Scid. I will look at it.

I think I found the problem : start rybka in a console and enter the basic commands :
uci
isready
go infinite ponder

then Rybka 3 crashes (Linux and windows XP) !

I posted a message on Rybka's forum, and I think it is a bug in the engine.

The commands I send are used to enter engine's analysis mode, maybe Arena uses others, but I don't know which. Note that Rybka 2n2 does not crash with these commands, so there is some regression in Rybka 3 code (I think).

Great! So lets hope, that Ras will release a bugfix regarding this!

I found the solution and now Rybka 3 works with Scid. Simply Rybka dislikes
go infinite ponder
but
go ponder infinite
is ok for him !

I will release a version of Scid this year that will fix this :-)

Vajlick? Sounds pornographic....
