You are talking about the octi-core technology, you'll have to wait a bit for it's release.S.Taylor wrote:In short, Is it as good (or more? or less?) than a doubling speed of a Quad core?Terry McCracken wrote:Read the site and see what's just on the horizon.ernst wrote:It has been released almost a month ago, where is the news?

I don't know. It's the best Intel offers right now with the only faster chip being the Core i7 Extreme. They're pretty damn fast.S.Taylor wrote:How much slower will core i7 be?Terry McCracken wrote:You are talking about the octi-core technology, you'll have to wait a bit for it's release.S.Taylor wrote:In short, Is it as good (or more? or less?) than a doubling speed of a Quad core?Terry McCracken wrote:Read the site and see what's just on the horizon.ernst wrote:It has been released almost a month ago, where is the news?

What I am interested is a dual socket 2 x 8 core overclockable setup. Imagine 16 Nehalem Cores @ 5Ghz !!!

Hi Kaj,Kaj Soderberg wrote:If that planning appears to be serious, i might postpone the new beast for those plusminus 6 months. The new stuff would blow away the C2D Extreme, for what i've seen from it.
Thanks for the info.
Cheers,
Kaj
I just did a quick search about "mobile nehalem" and found this: http://www.pcworld.com/article/152473/i ... k=rss_news
What I referred to in my post, was info I read last summer but I suppose it is already out of date...
They now say starting production 2009 Q2, the commercial release date still being unknown yet.

Thanks for that info, Marc.
I will be following this development with interest, and prolonging the life of my current notebook until i know what the final planning will be, and then make a decision.
Cheers,
Kaj
