Pals.
Arena is much more flexible, intuitive and user-friendly than Winboard. Who's gonna challenge that?

Geno

I thought a beauty contest was only about looks?
From the pictures people post here, I can see how Arena looks. But I cannot see how it functions, so there is nothing I can say about that, or challenge what other people say about it.
I would be surprised, however, if anything could be more intuitive than the way I currently run tournaments using WinBoard + PSWBTM.
(Except, of course, that Arena could not run them at all. So there really is no comparison.)

arena have free support for *.pgn, epds, copy information, printing, support too for DGT boards, for Novag Citrine and other "compatibleS" serials in configuration... ¡¡ support too for ICS ¡¡ support book too ¡ and show a lot of information in the window ¡
good work for all people that colaborate with ARENA CHESS GUI ¡
LONG LIVE for ARENA GUI CHESS ¡ hurrah ¡ hurrah ¡ hurrah ¡

Well, it is always interesting to see if the competition offers any interesting features that are worth copying...
If I look for features that you encircled that WinBoard does not have, I basically notice two things:
* A panel with some information on the Book (the "Move P G Wi prob Line" stuff; it is not intuitively clear to me what that means, but I am not an opening expert).
* The PV in the game history.
The rest pretty much seems to be stuff that WinBoard has as well (as far as I can see). The PV-in-history would be very easy to implement. But as the only postings I have seen around on this Arena feature were about how to switch it off, so I wonder if that would be worth it...

Well, don't forget the multi-PV analysis...hgm wrote:If I look for features...

(up to now, the Winboard solution is ugly)

What exactly is ugly about the WB solution, and how would you like it better?
