Lichess Blitz rating to FIDE rating

That is hard to remember. But I just found a 1930 player losing two games (out of two) against Zahak, 9 months ago. At that time Zahak was actually only ~1930 CCRL or so. Unfortunately, LiChess search is not that good to do a better search.

Zahak is currently only ~2400 blitz on LiChess (4CPU, a proper PC), most of the SF bots are around 2600 or so. But currently Zahak on CCRL (1CPU) is 3270! So the pool is very very compact on LiChess
Is this 2400 LiChess blitz rating based on playing mostly humans, or mostly bots? Are there enough games with humans to say what its LiChess rating would be counting only games with humans? The human ratings on LiChess are not "compact", at least not compared to FIDE ratings according to this thread. So just what is happening here? Perhaps the higher rated bots are just rated against (mostly) cheating humans, whereas no one cheats against a low rated bot?
Most strong players avoid the SF bots like the plague. If they want to lose to SF they can do so on their own PC without going to lichess. Otherwise, the SF bots would have much higher ratings.

The lichess bot I've set up, Nezh-BOT, has played more than its share of decent human players due to its wild attacking style, and this has resulted in a rating of 2900+. Nezh's rating has climbed continuously and should continue to do so with more play against strong humans.

This is Nezh's profile. It would be great if we can simulate it under CCRL conditions so then we can interpolate from minihuman 2400 to nezh 2900.

What is known about the Nezh bot? Is it a stockfish derivative, or an independent engine?

What is known about the Nezh bot? Is it a stockfish derivative, or an independent engine?

I don't know, but this is its public profile bio.

An experimental bot meant to be the perfect human-like opponent. That is hard to remember. But I just found a 1930 player losing two games (out of two) against Zahak, 9 months ago. At that time Zahak was actually only ~1930 CCRL or so. Unfortunately, LiChess search is not that good to do a better search.

Zahak is currently only ~2400 blitz on LiChess (4CPU, a proper PC), most of the SF bots are around 2600 or so. But currently Zahak on CCRL (1CPU) is 3270! So the pool is very very compact on LiChess
Is this 2400 LiChess blitz rating based on playing mostly humans, or mostly bots? Are there enough games with humans to say what its LiChess rating would be counting only games with humans? The human ratings on LiChess are not "compact", at least not compared to FIDE ratings according to this thread. So just what is happening here? Perhaps the higher rated bots are just rated against (mostly) cheating humans, whereas no one cheats against a low rated bot?
Most strong players avoid the SF bots like the plague. If they want to lose to SF they can do so on their own PC without going to lichess. Otherwise, the SF bots would have much higher ratings.

The lichess bot I've set up, Nezh-BOT, has played more than its share of decent human players due to its wild attacking style, and this has resulted in a rating of 2900+. Nezh's rating has climbed continuously and should continue to do so with more play against strong humans.

This is Nezh's profile. It would be great if we can simulate it under CCRL conditions so then we can interpolate from minihuman 2400 to nezh 2900.

What is known about the Nezh bot? Is it a stockfish derivative, or an independent engine?

I don't know, but this is its public profile bio.

An experimental bot meant to be the perfect human-like opponent. It will play in the style of great attacking geniuses of the past, not afraid to sac and take chances: Nezhmetdinov, Tal, Alekhine, Rossolimo - just to name a few. Also, Nezh is equally at home in closed positions(!) Be the first human to defeat it! Enjoy!

If it is just a normal modern Stockfish version modified to play more wildly, then a 2900 rating on Lichess would be a very poor rating. Magnus Carlsen is 3188 there so a top engine should be approaching 4000. Of course it could be a search-limited SF derivative. But if it is a stockfish derivative, don't they have to give credit and make the source code available? If it's some other engine, one would think there would be a pc version.

Mean Girl 8 (32x4) -- the most fun leela-style network -- looking at ~2500 nodes on a Raspberry Pi 3. Will play casual and rated Blitz, Rapid and Classical with at least 3 sec increment in both standard and chess960. Will move almost instantly. Designed to be a reasonable sparring partner. Uses a gambit book for extra entertainment value.

Profile of MiniHuman BOT. It has only played a single BOT in blitz rated game with 7 games. There are 24 opp players who violates Lichess TOS. Lichess has a mechanism to refund rating lost if opp violates TOS. So rating is not affected in this case.

So I guess this is a good candidate to connect to CCRL Blitz, close to this level of play (Lichess Blitz 2400).
Mean Girl net is at https://github.com/dkappe/leela-chess-w ... -style-net. Then get Lc0 to run it at around 2500 nodes per move according to its profile in Lichess. I am not sure which Lc0 version to use, maybe from year 2019 or 2020.
We're testing it now vs ccrl engines at ccrl blitz tc. dkappe says the correct number of nodes is 3000, not 2500.

So far MiniHuman is at 2227 under CCRL Blitz conditions, just 206 elo below its lichess blitz rating. This is rather surprising to me, since lichess blitz ratings are a class or so above FIDE ratings at this level; in fact 2433 lichess converts to 2212 FIDE by the formula given in this thread. Pretty much a perfect match between FIDE and CCRL blitz for this one engine, allowing for MOE. So assuming that there aren't a lot of cheaters who avoided detection in this sample, the engines may be weaker in blitz than I thought they were around this level; perhaps I overestimated the "contraction" factor going from engine ratings to human ratings? Maybe the relationship between ccrl and lichess is not so far from linear. I think we need some data around the 1500 level or so.

It' often comes down to the pool one swims in.

I remember a story from long back...1980's or so, about the best player in my state...Henry Robinson I think was his name. 2300or higher. He went to a big tourney in NYC and got his 'hat handed to him'. He (seriously) threw his board and pieces into the trash and did not play again for a decade or more. I was at the first tournament he came back to play...just had to try it one more time then disappeared again for about another decade.

Anyway, sites vary a lot. I'm rated 250 more on Lichess than another sites but then I don't take every game seriously on those sites...often play totally 'junk' openings just to test myself or goof off while I'm watching a football game, etc.

The real test is OTB, where every game is likely to be taken seriously and there is a good standard for rating. Tying engine rating points (like Dragon) to a 'meaningful' human number' would seem terribly difficult to do.

Nezh is a private engine, and I can't add much more than what's been stated, since I'm only its tester. It predates NN/NNUE and only uses HCE.

As I mentioned before, its rating would continue to climb if it kept playing more and more decent strength humans.
That has been the undeniable trend and 2900 Elo on lichess does not reflect its ultimate potential, which is probably to be on par or slightly better than the human world champ. That's what its strength projects to be based on private tests against other engines, which point to somewhere around 2800-2900 CCRL.

I searched for rated blitz games where average rating was 2700, so with it at 2900 that means opponents 2500+.

There was one game it timed out after the first move, and then it was 17.5/18 in the remaining games.

Still none of the games were against people especially close in rating, none over 2700.

It would just need stronger players to play it to get good data.

pgnrating column is the lichess blitz rating of the opp of Nezh-BOT at the time of encounter.
blitzrating column is the current lichess blitz rating of the opp of Nezh-BOT.

I tried to calculate its perf using the pgnrating column as this is their actual encounter. Get the mean convert it to FIDE rating. Then take its score rate. Then use the FIDE table given score rate to get the rating difference. Calculate the FIDE perf by opp_rating + rating diff, then convert it back to lichess blitz rating to get its blitz rating based from those titled opponents.
