Re: Abbess new release
Does the engine use a compressed EXE that uncompresses itself after starting? That's a frequent source of such issues. Just don't do that, we're not anymore in the age of floppy disks with scarce storage.

always were marked (false!) positives by google drive and the process to get ridd off this would
have been too annoying and time consuming, thus I decided for migrating those.
I also did not have problems till yesterday afternoon. Then, to my horror, I noticed that all Abbess games were forfeited on time and the exe had disappeared.
I think the virus definition file was replaced in the meantime which caused the virus alarm.

Re: Abbess new release
Sorry for all the issues. Windows defender quarantined it on me too. The only other thing I can think of is I switched the compile option from being statically linked instead of dynamic, since not everyone has the .net installed.
I will see if I can figure a way around the issues over the weekend.

At the moment, hash size is not adjustable. It is hard coded at 25MB (2 million 12 byte entries).Gabor Szots wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 8:10 amPlease remember my question about hash size.Robert Pope wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 5:32 am Sorry for all the issues. Re: Abbess new release
This gave me pause, so I've implemented the winboard command "memory X" to set a X MB hash table, and saved it as Abbess2022B. Max hash is 768 MB.Robert Pope wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 7:29 pmAt the moment, hash size is not adjustable. Re: Abbess new release
Ugh. Just one of those weeks. I linked to the wrong file and the Abbess2022 link was not the right file.
Abbess 2022B can now be downloaded. Thanks for your patience, everyone.

Re: Abbess new release
Correction.
I have just downloaded both NewAbbess2022 and Abbess2022B. No problem with the latter but Windows Defender complained about NewAbbess2022 that it contained Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml. I don't believe him.
Anyway, I'm going to use 2022B from now on. Thanks Robert for the memory command.
